Dallas World Aquarium

An old warehouse at 1801 North Griffin Street, near the Historic West End District in downtown Dallas, became the original site of The Dallas World Aquarium, opening to the public in October 1992. Built in 1924, the empty warehouse had been occupied until 1982. During those years it was used for various industries, including the Mohawk Rubber Company and Pioneer Steel Rule and Die.

Dallas Zoo

The Dallas Zoo began in 1888 with just two deer and two mountain lions in City Park. It later moved to Fair Park in 1909 and quickly outgrew its second home, moving to Marsalis Park in 1912, where it stands today. Throughout the past 129 years, numerous upgrades have been made and collections expanded. In 1955, the Dallas Zoological Society was established as a non-profit to support the Zoo.

Resource Center Dallas

The year was 1983.'Dallas' was on television,'Return of the Jedi' played at the movie theaters and Michael Jacksons album'Thriller' dominated the radio. That was also the year when Resource Center got its start.


For over 35 years, the Center has provided programs of interest to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) community members and critical assistance to people living with HIV and AIDS and for their families. TapeLenders has continuously served the Dallas, Texas Cedar Springs community since 1982. We started as a small independent video store providing hollywood rental and gay adult and erotica.
