Attractions

Pomham Rocks Lighthouse

Pomham Rocks Lighthouse sits on a small island just off the coast of East Providence Rhode Island.It began service December 1, 1871 with a sixth order Fresnel lens showing a fixed white light. A mere ten months later on October 1, 1872 this characteristic was changed to fixed red. 


A fog siren, installed in 1900, was referred to by a local newspaper as ""the greatest nuisance in the state"" before it was replaced by a fog bell three years later. The light remained operational until it was decommissioned in 1974 when the US Coast Guard replaced it with one on a newly erected skeleton tower.

Located amid 40 acres of beautiful woodlands, the Roger Williams Park Zoo provides visitors the opportunity to see animals from all over the globe' some more than a million years old. PPAC

The Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) presents a full roster of touring Broadway theatricals and contemporary engagements. PPAC has been the theatre of choice in launching thirteen National Tours, including Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE KING AND I in November of 2016.


PPAC is a 3100-seat, world class venue located in the heart of Providences arts and entertainment district; it is the second largest theatre of its kind in the country. PPAC is listed on the National Register of Historic Places; it has also been ranked by Pollstar as one of the Top Venues in the world.The theatre became known as the'Jewel of Weybosset Street' after its doors opened as Loews State Movie Palace in 1928.

John Brown House

The John Brown House was built in 1788 by merchant, patriot, politician, and slave trader John Brown, an instigator and participant in the Gaspee Affair. He and his family were some of the wealthiest and most influential people in the colonies and, then, the United States. The Browns are the namesake of Brown University.

Built in 1828, the Arcade is the nations oldest indoor shopping mall and remains the historic heart of Providences downtown. This beautiful structure with its distinguished Greek Revival columns, granite walls, and classic facades still stands barely touched through its more than 185 years watching over Westminster and Weybosset Streets.
